Cellular organelles have their own function which is very important to maintain the cell survival and function. If their homeostasis were disturbed, it causes cellular dysfunction and apoptosis. The stress was not properly restored in each cell of organ, resulting in various human diseases (eg, neuron → neurodegenerative diseases, pancreatic beta cells → Diabetes, Hepatocytes → liver diseases, Macrophages → Inflammatory diseases). In our laboratory, we are pursuing the molecular mechanisms and pathology of human diseases in terms of integrated stress response (IRS) to overcome the those diseases.
