SCH Biomedical Science Core-Facility
By establishing a core research support center specialized in advanced cell analysis and bioimaging within SIMS, the best research infrastructure will be provided to local universities, research centers, and bio-related companies in the central region of Korea, including Soonchunhyang University, through the integration of research equipment and research support by professional manpower.
□ Overview
○ Project: Basic science research capacity enhancement
○ Director: Prof. Jeong Kyo Yoon
○ Research period: June 01, 2019 ~ February 28, 2025
○ Supported by: Ministry of Education (Korea Basic Science Institute)
□ Central goal
Through research using specialized equipment for cell analysis and bioimaging in the core-facility center, the center will enable basic research to reveal the mechanisms of various diseases and preclinical animal testing and provide a research infrastructure that can study or verify stem cell-based therapies, diagnostic makers for metabolic diseases, and candidate substances for the development of new treatments.
□ R&D achievements
○ By linking with specialized research fields for cell analysis, bioimaging, and laboratory animal analysis, a research pipeline is established from single cells to living bodies, enabling successful medical science research.
○ The efficient use of research equipment by multiple researchers is enabled by fundamentally removing the obstacles to a research infrastructure, in which expensive high-tech research instruments are neglected due to breakdown or difficulty in maintenance.
○ By enabling the joint use of expensive high-tech equipment, the center can offer universities, research institutes, and bio-related companies in the region the benefit of using the latest research techniques.
○ In addition to operating research equipment, experimental data will be analyzed in-depth, through which research capabilities will be improved to a higher level based on advice such as designing research methods.
○ Through this, the quantitative and qualitative growth of research papers and patents, cultivation of specialized research manpower, and R&D will result.
