Application Eligibility

Application Eligibility
MS
  • Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Master’s degree holders may later transfer to the doctoral program with the approval of the SIMS Graduate Committee
MS/PhD
  • Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Applicants who will be awarded a bachelor’s degree by February 2019
PhD
  • Applicants holding a master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Applicants who will be awarded a master’s degree by February 2019

English Proficiency

  • All classes will be conducted in English
  • Applicants whose first or native language is not English are required to submit an English proficiency test report
  • Applicants who have completed a degree program in an English speaking country, or who graduated from a university where English is the primary language of instruction, are exempted from providing an English proficiency test report
  • Language requirement will be waived for the candidates who show good scientific communication skill in English in the Skype interview with the SIMS admission committee

The application form must be downloaded from the website.

Applicants must submit all necessary documents on or before the due date.

Applicants should submit a Letter of Recommendation as follows

MS MS/PhD PhD
MS One Letter of Recommendation from one referee.
MS/PhD Two Letters of Recommendation from two different referees.
PhD

Applicants must ask their referees to send the Letter of Recommendation directly to sims@sch.ac.kr

How to apply

Step 1.

  • Apply online for admission at sims@sch.ac.kr
  • Important Notes: Please e-mail your application (required documents 1-5) in a docx format to sims@sch.ac.kr.
  • Please name each file with the document number, your full name and document type separated by a dash (example:1-Jane_Smith-applicationform.docx).

Step 2.

Admitted applicants must send original copies of the required documents to the SIMS Office address below:

FAQs

1. Do I need to submit an English proficiency exam result?

When applying to SIMS, applicants whose first language is not English or were granted a degree from a non-English speaking country should submit the result of an internationally recognized English test.

2. Are there fees I need to pay to enter SIMS?

Upon entering SIMS, application fee for international students will be deducted from the stipend as follow:

  • Application Fee
  • MS Program: 60,000 KRW
  • Combined MS/PhD program: 70,000 KRW
  • PhD program: 70,000 KRW
  • Admission Fee
  • MS, Combined MS/PhD and PhD programs: 750,000 KRW
