    The new research institute was formally named as “Soonchunhyang Institute of Medi-bio Science (SIMS)".
  2. 05
    SIMS Establishment Taskfore Team,led by Dr. Jeongbin Yim was formed. SIMS signed the MOU with Asia-Pacific International Molecular Biology Network (A-IMBN). SIMS signed the MOU with Cold Spring Harbor Asia and Watson Program.

    SIMS signed the MOU with The Institute of Medical Science of The University of Tokyo(IMSUT) in Japan.

    SIMS signed the MOU with The Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS) in Israel. SIMS hosted the first tri-institute International Medi-Bio Symposium with IMSUT and WIS.
2014

    Dr. Jeongbin Yim, Chair Professor of SCHU, was appointed as the Founding President of SIMS.

    SIMS organized the research workshop to promote interdisciplinary collaboration with SCH Hospitals.

    Seven new faculty members were appointed as Assistant Professor: Drs. Kae Won Cho, Jaeseok Han, Youngjo Kim, Hyog Young Kwon, Seongho Ryu, Jae-won Shim, and Sujung Song.

    Graduate Program named “Department of Integrated Biomedical Science” was launched: Eight graduate students entered from 6 Asian countries.
2015

    Four new faculty members were appointed: Dr. Jeong Kyo Yoon as Professor; Drs. Yongsung Hwang, ManRyul Lee, and Yun Kyung Lee as Assistant Professor.

    SIMS signed the MOU with Generys Biopharmaceuticals Corporation, a bioventure company based at Duke Medical School.

    SIMS signed the MOU with The University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

    Construction of SIMS building completed at the SCH Cheonan Medical Complex, and moved into the new building.

    SIMS held Inaugural Ceremony and Symposium in conjunction with the 18th A-IMBN annual conference. SIMS signed the MOU with Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM).

    "Medical IT-based RNA Research Center”supported by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning was established (PI: Dr. Seongho Ryu).

    SIMS held 2015 Open House to recruit new graduate students. SIMS signed the MOU with The Tarbiat Modares University in Iran. SIMS formally joined the EAJS Symposium as a member institute at the 22nd EAJS held at OIST(Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology), Japan. SIMS was designated as a hosting Institution for Military Service Exemption Program by the Military Manpower Administration of Korea. SIMS held the joint research workshop with SCHU Cheonan Hospital.
2016

    SIMS participated the WIS-SIMS Joint symposium on Stem Cell Biology at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel.

    SIMS organized the joint research workshop with SCHU Bucheon Hospital.
  3. 06
    SIMS organized the research seminar with SCHU Seoul Hospital. State-of-the Art Experimental Animal Facility opened on the 1st Basement floor of SIMS. SIMS signed the MOU with the Lee Gil Ya Cancer and Diabetes Center of Gachon University, and organized the first collaborative research seminar at SIMS.

    The second collaborative research seminar with Lee Gil Ya Cancer and Diabetes Center was held at Gachon University.

    “2016 Open House” event was held for new prospective graduate students. “WIS-SIMS Research Center for Tissue Regeneration” supported by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning was established (PIs: Drs. Jeong Kyo Yoon, Tsvee Lapidot).

    SIMS attended the 23rd EAJS held at Taiwan National University, as a member institute.

    SIMS faculty visited Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel to discuss bi-institutional collaborative programs.

2017

    Cheonan city delegation led by Mayor, Koo, Bonyoung visited SIMS.

    Three new faculty members were appointed as Assistant Professor: Drs. Mihye Lee, Minwoo Lee, and Jongseok Moon. SIMS organized the first collaborative research seminar with the College of Medical-Science, SCHU at SIMS

    SIMS organized YEDA-YOZMA-SCH joint symposium, and opened the “SCH-Yozma C&D Center” on the 5th floor of SIMS.

    SIMS organized “2017 Weizmann-SIMS Joint Symposium”, and signed the MOU for the student exchange and postdoctoral training program with the Weizmann Institute.

    SIMS established “SIMS Biotech Co., Ltd.” to promote translation research by SIMS faculty members.

    SIMS organized the “Workshop in Personalized Medicine: Insights from G-INCPM” with key members of the Israel National Center for Personalized Medicine. SIMS hosted “Open House 2017” for prospective graduate students.

    SIMS attended the 24th EAJS hosted by Kyoto University, Japan, as a member institute.

    “Year End Party 2017" was held; An international potluck dinner was served by graduate student volunteers.
2018

    SIMS signed the MOU with the Macrogen Inc. to promote precision medicine R&D with SCH Medical Center and Macrogen.

    SIMS signed the MOU with the J-PanGyo Partners and secured an office at the “2nd PanGyo Techno Valley” for technology transfer and commercialization.

    “Clinical Research Center ” was established on the 5th floor of SIMS.

    SIMS signed the MOU with The University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam for faculty and student exchange program in biomedical science.

    SIMS held 2018 Open House to recruit new graduate students. SIMS signed the MOU with The Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia for faculty and student exchange program in biomedical science. SIMS attended the 25th EAJS hosted by Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences Chinese Academy of Sciences as a member institute.
